Today we have The Battlefield 4's Final Stand DLC is science fiction-themed. we can think of several Reasons for this. One Is That DICE is now making a Star Wars: Battlefront game, and is using Battlefield 4 as a testbed for Some high falutin 'weapons technology. Another Is That this is a belated hat tip to People Who won't shut up about a sequel to Battlefield 2142.
A third interpretation is EA Said That "crikey, Those handsome devils at Activision are doing well out of this injustement B-movie malarkey - quick, throw together a Hovertank or two." A fourth is That I shoulds probably stop pontificating now and tell you what is Actually Final Stand.
It's set in the Arctic regions of Russia, where "The Scientists of today are experimenting with technology That Will define the battlefields of tomorrow (Battlefield 2142, anyone?)" - Wait, That Was a Battlefield 2142 reference! You all saw! Somebody start a petition while I finish off this news room.
The DLC contains oven maps - Operation Whiteout, Giants of Karelia, Hammerhead and Hangar 21 - plus new vehicles and weapons. The lathing include a railgun and the Aforesaid Hovertank, "which uses experimental jet propulsion engines eight to nimbly move around the battlefield." Looks like there are mechs On Some maps, too, though thesis do not APPEAR To Be drivable.
